Garth Wilson is founder and CEO of Dunbar Property Group, a real estate agency head quartered in Cape Town, South Africa focused on Commercial & Industrial Property investment sales globally and real estate development opportunities in South Africa. The client base of the group ranges from High Net Worth Individuals to Institutional Investors and Developers in major commercial real estate markets.
Garth is also founder of The Underprivileged Foundation, a Non-Profit Organisation that invests in sustainable income producing assets for the benefit of the underprivileged in South Africa.
Garth commenced his career in 1978 as a student in retail banking. After a two year compulsory stint in the military where he gained rank of Lieutenant, he returned to the banking industry in 1983, joining Nedcor and rapidly climbed the ladder to Branch Manager. In 1991 he was head hunted for a Branch Manager position at newly formed Allied Bank. Three years later and seeking new challenges, he joined niche banking operation, BoE Private Bank, to set up their mortgage division in Sandton, Gauteng. After successful conclusion of this project and entering the commercial & industrial real estate finance division, he was sent to Port Elizabeth in 1996 to set up BoE Group in the Eastern Cape. Achieving profitability in quick time and building a significant client base, he sought another start-up opportunity and in 2000 joined niche banking group Investec who were seeking to gain a foothold for their Private Bank division in the Eastern Cape. Within six months the division turned around losses into profits and at the time of his departure to launch Dunbar Property Group, Garth and his team were contributing over 50% of the profits of Investec Private Bank in the Eastern Cape. In his spare time, Garth lectured Property Economics to Honours Students at Nelson Mandela Bay University in Port Elizabeth.
Garth’s educational qualifications include a B Com Degree in Business Management from UNISA majoring in Real Estate and Information Systems, a cum laude Financial Management Diploma from Damelin, a Certified Commercial & Industrial Specialist Diploma from Wits University and is a Principal CEA.
