Linda J. Pedley was born and raised in Edmonton until her family moved to Sherwood Park in 1972 where she attended, and graduated from, Salisbury Composite High. She continues to make Sherwood Park her home. As one of the six founding members of the The Writers Foundation of Strathcona County, Lindas connection to the community has grown with a commitment to this group and its members over the past 10 years. The continual success and community acceptance of this writers group is telltale of the type of steady, forward momentum required for any creative foundation.
Linda is not just someone with a wordy passion that writes for her own benefit; she shares that passion with many others and along with that, shares the dream of being a published author. Her journey as a writer has turned out to be the "write" path to take and, although many writers dream of being published, not many dream of starting their own publishing company. Association with groups such as the Writers Foundation of Strathcona County brought Linda into contact with many wonderful people - all writers, all with a like-passion, and all with a desire to be published in one way or another. It also highlighted that there were others out there with a similar journey - a similar mission - and a similar vision for their writing life. Starting Dream Write Publishing was not just a petty desire to move on to the next step and get her own work published. The dream lodged itself into a writers heart, inked itself upon the list of things to do, and worked its way to a possibility. The desire to help others realize their writing potential is supported by the process of encouragement to learn the craft, support to help polish written work, and then, possibly, fulfillment of publishing dreams. Although poetry is the greatest passion and has been the mainstay of Lindas writing for many years... screenplays, novels, short stories and non-fiction articles... have filtered in as well. Dedication to the craft, for Linda, means there is a constant learning, sharing and creating cycle that revolves around the writing life: always learn new things to hone your skills, share time and expertise with others to promote their work and achievements, and continue to practice your own creativity to produce your own style or voice
The balance between them, of course, shifts back and forth but its always there in one way or another. This creative triad is evident in her writing, her artwork, her photography, and in her company philosophy. As long as you keep on learning there is a forward momentum. " Never let anyone discourage you or persuade you to change your style or voice. As an artist - literary, visual or otherwise - you harbor a creative spirit within and its yours alone." Be true to yourself and free the creative spirit within.
