The battle between soy protein and whey protein as muscle building compound has been

going on for years now. While whey and soy are both good protein sources one may be more

beneficial to you than the other for muscle building or fat burning needs. If you are a

vegetarian your choice of protein drinks will definitely be soy protein over whey protein.
From doing my own personal research on soy and whey, I found that many facts are in favor of

whey protein shakes. Some of the facts included Biological Value, Net Protein Utilization,

Protein Efficiency Ration, Amino Acid Score and Glutamine. Although these facts favor whey,

soy protein is still an excellent source of protein which can be used effectively in body

building supplementation, or particularly for those who are vegetarians or lactose

intolerant.
Body builders normally take protein drinks after a workout because protein replenishes the

muscles that were burned. For those who are trying to reach their weight loss goals, weight

loss protein shakes are used as meal replacements.
I enjoy both soy and whey very much, so I like to mix them together and replace soy milk

with water for a thicker texture and more protein as well. This way, I don’t have to favor

soy or whey!
