In the latest statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, numbers show that the U.S. demand for types of cosmetic procedures varies from region to region. Experts suggest that the biggest influencing factor in this respect is based on weather. Considering the extreme weather differences varying from region to region, it makes sense that here in California and other warmer states, where it is warm and sunny all year round, many more people are inclined to undergo figure-oriented procedures. Warmer weather means fewer clothes. Furthermore, California being the home to Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood, all centers of fashion, entertainment, and other image-related industries, people are much more body-conscious, asking for breast augmentation, breast lift, breast implant removals, liposuction, pectoral implants and tummy tuck procedures more than anywhere else in the U.S. Los Angeles plastic surgery has set a precedent for worldwide plastic surgery centers. Finding a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon is as easy as talking a stroll down Rodeo Drive. At the same time, in other colder regions, where people are more covered up, these areas tend to see the most facial plastic surgery procedures overall. The New England/Mid Atlantic region had the highest numbers of lip augmentation, with 29% of 23,585 estimated procedures, and nose reshaping, with 29% of 284,960 procedures. However, the demand for cosmetic, minimally invasive procedures across the country saw little regional differences. It's estimated that 9.9 million of the procedures, such as chemical peels, were performed by ASPS member surgeons or other board-certified physicians in 2007, up from 9.1 million in 2006 and 5.5 million in 2000. But they do tend to be most popular in the New England/Mid Atlantic and Mountain Pacific regions. The latter, which again includes California, particularly Los Angeles and Beverly Hills cosmetic surgery , had the nation's greatest numbers of a variety of procedures, including Botox, hyaluronic acid, laser leg vein treatments and laser hair removal.
