Everyone has a hobby, and everyone wants to make money.  This is a bold statement, but most people are probably in the above category.  With unemployment reaching absurd levels, many people are scratching their head asking “How can I make money?”  The answer may be right before their very eyes.  Solomon has said “There is nothing better for man than that he should eat, and drink, and take enjoyment in his toil”.  Do what you love, and love what you do.  A hobby could be defined as the work you do for fun and enjoyment after you work for money.  Wouldn’t it be great if you could combine the best of both worlds?  Many people do have hobbies that make money.   
 
There are some famous people who have had hobbies that make money.  They turned their passion and skills into something that not only made them rich, but also would benefit humanity.  Thomas Edison loved to experiment, and because of his passion to invent and discover the mysteries of life, this world is a better place.  The Wright brothers had a hobby of inventing the airplane, and it was a consuming passion that evolved into the airline industry. Bill Gates turned his hobby of working with computers into Microsoft, and became the richest person in America. Walt Disney had a hobby, he enjoyed making drawings, and he converted that passion into a business that would make his name legendary. 
 
Many people have hobbies that they don’t consider turning into a money maker.  Bill, down the street may like tinkering with cars on the side, and Jim two blocks over enjoys fixing things around the house and making it into a veritable showplace.  Ann enjoys working on arts and crafts that she displays around the house, and sometimes gives as gifts.  Carol enjoys sewing and makes her own clothes and handbags.  Greg enjoys playing the guitar and composing music and writing songs.  Tiffany enjoys making her own jewelry.  These people all love what they do, but they don’t have hobbies that make money.
 
America is bursting with people who have hobbies that make money, sometimes big money.  Charles Atlas was a health enthusiast and turned that passion into a very profitable business.  Jack Lalanne was also a health enthusiast who came after Charles Atlas and took it to the next step, and has motivated many people in the process.  Napoleon Hill has said “Don’t search for opportunity in the distance, but recognize and embrace it right where you are”. Many people have taken their talents to levels some only dream about.  Mozart was a child prodigy whose hobby was composing music.  He offered his talent to the world and became one of the greatest composers ever.  Peter Mark Rogert had an interesting hobby of categorizing and listing things.  His hobby eventually became what most writers consider invaluable, Rogerts Thesaurus.
 
Everyone has something that they enjoy doing that may be valuable to someone else.  We may not be the next Jack Lalanne, but we can all benefit from his inspiration to be the best we can be by working with what we have.  The abundant life is there for those who want it.
