breath

Breath,
most taken for granted;
most universal gift
(power) of life in every form.

All life breathes:
The animals, the plants, even the rocks
all breathe.

A cave that cannot breathe, dies.

Oh fellow traveler
on this journey from birth to death
and beyond.

The Friend entreats us:
“Attend to your breath.
Give it some of your
precious attention and awareness.

It may turn out to be
the hidden, royal key
to life’s deepest secrets.
