tudies have proven that there is a definite link between color and our emotions. We express our emotions through the clothes that we wear and the things that we buy. Marketers are using color to influence buyers’ emotions without them even being aware of it. You can even see the proof in something as simple as a child coloring pictures. Which brings me to my next point.
Color or the combination thereof can influence our emotions positively or negatively, it can change the mood of a room or it can be a way to express your creativity. This is why we need to consider the colors we choose and use for our living spaces, especially in a room where you spend a lot of your time, such as a workspace or living room. No matter which color scheme needs to be comfortable, practical and aesthetically pleasing in the end. The room has to reflect your personality – or aspects thereof – in order to make it your own. If you are a person that likes whites and creams, you can create a cool and sleek modern space. With neutrals, you can create a natural and warm environment. Complimentary color schemes work well for utility styled kitchen, and cool pastel colors give a romantic fell to an everyday bedroom.
There are no set guidelines to what color scheme should be used in a specific room, but handy tips can often point out what works better and where. However, tips and recommendations should be treated and used as exactly that. You should make the idea your own in order to be as comfortable in the room as possible.
When you want to try new colors, but you don’t know what, inspiration can be found in magazines, television or the traditional color wheel. It is a circular representation of color, that help you select and match colors as you see them before your eyes. The process of choosing colors can often be very complex when you are considering colors for an open-plan house or flat. This is a big change to make and it will influence the look of the entire house. It is not the same as choosing a different scheme for every room in a house with clearly defined rooms.
When it comes to doing changes for children’s rooms, one needs to consider the long-term needs of the child. When a child is very young, his/her tastes and wants can change as quickly as the fads in the world of fashion does. If money is not an object, this would not be such a big consideration, but for the most of us that is not the case.
