Martingale The basic system is to double your bet after any loss, and after any win, bet one unit. This system would be unbeatable if the casinos would allow it, however there is a maximum bet limit at all table games. If you start with a $1 bet and lost six bets in a row, your seventh bet would be $64 and if you won, your net win for the series of bets would be $1. It doesn't make sense to bet so much to win so little. However, if you've lost four or five flat bets in a row, it might make sense to use a three or four-stage Martingale.
Labouchere In this system the player sets up a series of numbers to correspond to betting units. The sum of the series will be your expected profit. For example, 1, 3, 4, 3, 1. Your profit on a winning series would be twelve units. Your first bet is the sum of the two numbers on the end, 1 + 1 = 2. If you win, cross out the two numbers and your next bet is the sum of the next two outside numbers, 3 + 3 =6. If you win, cross out the two threes and your last bet would be four units. If you win, start over with a bet of two units. In case of a loss put the amount lost at the end of the series and bet the two outside numbers. So if you lose that first bet of two units, your series would now be: 1, 3, 4, 3, 1, 2, and your next bet would be the sum of the outside numbers, 2 + 1 = 3.
D'Alembert The basic system sets up a series of numbers one unit apart. Your first bet is the middle number in the series. You increase your bet one unit after a loss and decrease it one unit after a win. The experts recommend using no more than nine or ten bets in the series to limit your losses. There are many variations such as playing it in reverse – increase your bet after a win and decrease it after a loss.
Oscar's Grind Like all betting systems, this will win you a lot of money if you're on a streak. The target is to win one unit at the end of every series, and then start another series. The rules are easy. (1) Never change the size of your bet after a loss, and (2) increase your bet one unit after a win but never bet more than an amount that would give you a series win of one unit. For example, suppose your betting unit is $5 and you've lost six bets in a row. You bet $5 for the seventh time and win. Your next bet is $10 and you win. Your net loss is now $30 - $5 - $10 = $15. You raise your bet to $15 and win. You are now even and go back to betting $5. Notice you can't increase your bet to $20 because that would win more than one unit ($5). Also notice you've lost six bets and won only three and yet you are even.
