W hen implementing a strategy, you need to engage with all the people who need to contribute. However engagement is not enough. You also need to provide people with simple methods and tools that enable them to contribute in the best way.

Most people are keen to contribute, but find it hard to sort out what is happening and what they need to do. Enabling people to quickly create one page plans of how they can meaningfully contribute is a powerful first step.

Planning lets people focus on what they can actually do to achieve a specific goal. Good plans fit easily into the strategy, include a vision of what needs to be done, and contain a list of actions (or work flow) of how a plan goal will be achieved.

As plans are implemented, new information often becomes available and sometimes assumptions are shown to be incorrect. Consequently plans need to be kept current; otherwise they can lock in actions or timings that may now be unhelpful.

The actions in work flows need to be included on personal To Do lists. Otherwise there is a high risk that actions will be missed, disrupting the plan work flow and making the plan goal harder to achieve.

It is also important that reporting is enabled, so strategy implementers are aware of what is and isn’t actually happening. This timely feedback enhances decision making and saves time and stress answering questions about progress.

So in simple terms, implementing a strategy requires contributors to be enabled to:

· develop one page plans fast,
· keep To Do lists up to date, and
· report progress and provide timely feedback

TASKey has developed web and mobile software that makes it easy to develop and update one page plans in minutes. Plus the software automatically creates and updates personal To Do lists, reports progress (based on actions done) and keeps people informed by email when something happens that affects then.

Enable people to effectively contribute to your strategy, by providing easy to use web software to identify, plan and take control of what they need to contribute.
