UNITED KINGDOM, Feb 17 — Ever wondered what it is about the hit TV comedy series “Men behaving badly “ that suddenly causes members of the cast to appear enjoying the laid back pleasures of Britain’s most popular holiday destination, Cornwall ?
First of all we had Martin Clunes with his hugely popular “ Doc Martin “ drama based in Port Isaac on the county’s North coast and now we have Caroline Quentin with her new travelogue “ Cornwall with Caroline Quentin”. Presumably we can now look forward to Neil Morrissey and Leslie Ash starring in a remake of Winston Graham’s “ Poldark “ or Daphne du Maurier’s “ Rebecca “.
It’s quite clear that England’s southernmost county is the working location of choice for this bunch of stars as well as for a gaggle of celebrity restaurateurs and hoteliers.
This means that children can enjoy a traditional bucket and spade holiday while, at the same time, get a real taste of nature and find out how their food is produced

Cornwall’s enduring appeal is not difficult to explain; its epic landscapes are not only soothing on the eye but also on body and soul. This is where people come from increasingly busy and urban environments to unwind and refresh themselves. There are the quaint and quiet fishing villages like Polperro and Mevagissey, so beloved of jigsaw manufacturers, on the South coast while the Atlantic coast to the North is where the ocean crashes into the towering cliffs between Tintagel and Hartland. This is also where you will find the wide, sandy beaches for which Cornwall is renowned, particularly amongst the surfing fraternity.
Visitors return time and time again either for a short break or an extended holiday and each will have his or her favorite hideaway. There are not quite as many hotels and guest houses as one might imagine for such a major holiday destination but there are plenty of good caravan and camping sites. Self catering is still probably the most popular option for couples and families alike.
One alternative idea which is gaining enormous traction amongst parents with young children is a “farmcation” staying on a working farm where the kids can learn at first hand all about life in the countryside. In recent years, many farmers have chosen to diversify into the hospitality business and, because the county is so narrow, most of the farms in Cornwall that offer accommodation are within easy reach of the sea.
This means that children can enjoy a traditional bucket and spade holiday while, at the same time, get a real taste of nature and find out how their food is produced.
farm holidays and getaways in Devon are perfect and provide activities the whole family can enjoy.
