Barcelona, like any other city, also has a spooky and mysterious side. Over the centuries, the city has faced many tragedies that include epidemic outbreaks, riots, gun battles and bombardments.

The festival is celebrated by roasting and eating chestnuts plus other sweet desserts like panellets- it is made out of marzipan, Pan de Muerto also known as the bread of the death- a brioche flavored with orange or either sesames seeds and topped with sugar and preserved fruits.
On the streets, you will find different confectioners organizing Tombolas (lottery) where you can win panallets and other delicious food of the festival. In short, this is the perfect day to explore the streets of Barcelona and eat some traditional dishes. You won’t be bored even if you are alone because you will find people around you mingling about due to the festivities.
