Malwarebyte's team of programmers managed to implement highly effective virtumonde removal algorithms into version 1.31 and since that it has become the primary target for Virtumonde creators. There's a simple workaround consisting of 11 steps. The following tutorial is based on Windows XP, but should work for other Windows versions, too.
1. Click Start, then Run, then type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter key. 2. When the Device manager system properties window opens, go to View menu and select Show hidden devices. 3. Scroll down to Non-Plug and Play Drivers, unfold the list and look for the file called TDSSserv.sys. 4. Right-click the file and Disable it. 5. Apply the change, close the Device Manager and restart Windows. 6. Download Malwarebyte's anti-malware, but do not install it yet. 7. Rename the setup file to anything you like, e.g. antivir.exe – just make sure the file extension .exe is preserved. 8. Now install Malwarebyte's. 9. Go to C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder and change the name of the mbam.exe to anything you want, keeping the .exe extension intact. 10. Execute the newly named file by double-clicking it, and when the program launches, go to the Update tab, click on Check for Updates button, allow the latest anti-malware definitions to download. 11. Run the Full system scan two times, restarting Windows after each scan.
