f you have been on a diet before, you know that when you lose weight more times than not it comes right back. This is because you deprived yourself of certain foods and/or cut back on your food intake so drastically that when you started to eat normally again your body gained the weight back and accumulated additional fat.
Going from diet to diet like this is really a bad habit. You desperately want to lose weight but you have to be patient and focus on the proper way to do it. There is no such thing as an instant fix, however there are some things that you can start to do now that will become very easy in the long run. These will become your new habits and you will lose weight and keep it off!
You must make a decision that you want to change for the better, long term.
Decide what the main cause of your weight gain is, be it lack of exercise, eating too much, eating the wrong foods, etc. and focus on these. You will need to have a plan. I would start with these 2 simple things:
1. Try to bring at least 20 minutes of exercise into your day, to start. Instead of driving to the corner store...walk. Don't take the elevator...take the stairs. I don't remember the last time I went up an elevator. When you go to the mall, park as far away as you can. Not only is there ample parking, you don't have to fight for a spot. Do you get what I am saying here? These little things really start to add up in the long run.
2. Cut back on your portions. I'm not saying stop eating, I'm just saying don't have it super-sized. Eating until you feel sick is not a very good feeling. Think of what you would normally put on your plate and take 1/3 of it off. Cut regular pop out of your diet and try to not eat desserts. These are rich in sugars and fat.
Start with these baby steps and slowly but surely you will start to feel and look much better. You will have to be patient, it will take time. These are life changing habits and you will need to be consistent.
Don't give up. Pretty soon you will wonder to yourself, how did I ever let myself get to that point?
