Everything from scientific to superstitious, we do all kinds of things to get that extra edge. One of the most common ways to get an edge in sports is by getting ahead of the opponent physically. And, one of the most common ways to do that is by increasing jumping ability. So for those who want to find out how to jump high in sports, you have come to the right place. Since jumping is a very physical activity, it is obvious that the key on how to jump high is to develop your body in such a way that you’ll be capable of jumping higher. Technically speaking, 2 areas of the body must be extra powerful to gain those explosive hops. First, you got to develop your legs, and then you’ll also need to develop your core muscles.
How are you going to develop your muscles for jumping ability? There are a lot of exercises that concentrate on the development of the lower body. Both the muscles of the upper and lower legs must be stimulated to create that explosive leap. Perform exercises that would develop your upper leg muscles such as the quads and hamstrings. One of the most effective workouts for this muscle group is doing knee bend squats. Then, you also get to develop your lower leg muscles, particularly the calves. A multitude of exercises can be performed for this muscle group, but the most basic is doing toe raises. And then there are the core muscles. The abs is the most prominent set of muscle group of the core. Develop these muscles thru different methods such as sit-ups and crunches.
Of course, it shouldn’t end there. The fact is that it takes time to actually be able to jump high as it takes time to develop these muscles. No one becomes a high leaper overnight. Usually, results, measured in the form of added inches of vertical leap, show up only after at least one month of consistent training. This is why patience is a virtue when it comes to developing oneself for jumping high.
