he emergence of digital careers, and a growing need for hands on training, has led the MediaTech Institute to expand across Texas. Facilities in Dallas, Houston and Austin continue to lease additional space to keep up with the demand for training and additional equipment. Plans are underway to add an additional location in California in 2010.
Digital media now plays an increasingly important part in our everyday lives, and many industries are seeing digital applications infiltrate how they do business. The lines have been blurred between advertising, marketing communications, branding, and digital media. There is a high demand in many industries for computer graphics artists, supervisors, and managers skilled in the creation of digital content for film, video, print, Internet, or audio. Companies look for designers and creators who understand the art of communication and possess the skills to work in a high tech production environment.
Skills in digital applications provide a wide range of career options, as well as a route into further and higher education. For an increasing number of people, working with digital formats are the way they make a living. Careers can include being on the creative side of new media, managing and creating commercials, videogames or Internet content, applying sound to film and video, audio engineering, post production, recording, or live music. Also included are maintenance, manufacturing and sales.
“It is a big industry and a lot of people want to be in it, but to be really successful requires new training,” states Russell Whitaker, Founder and President of the MediaTech Institute. Whitaker has developed a multidisciplinary curriculum in which students focus on digital visual effects and motion graphics, animation, technical direction, recording and editing to produce any type of audio or visual communication. The classrooms consist of commercial sound and film studios where students produce real world projects. Technologies can change quickly so the programs, equipment and instruction need to be on the cutting edge. Since MediaTech is not a public institution, which must wait on funding and approvals, it can quickly acquire the most up-to-date technology as soon as it hits the market.
"It’s a multimedia world. More and more jobs are being created to deliver digital content and most of it has sound and picture. Whether it is a video link emailed to you at your place of employment detailing your health benefits, or a blockbuster Hollywood movie, a crew of professionals has to produce, shoot, sound supervise, edit, and distribute it. There is a consistent growing demand for those with multimedia skills sets to work in any field." Tracy Terrell, Vice President.
MediaTech has locations in Dallas, Houston and Austin Texas. For more information on digital careers or the MediaTech Institute go to www.mediatech.edu or call 866.498.1122. # # #
