cne can affect all ages, whether you are an adolescent or in the latter parts of your life. The most common and embarassing acne is facial acne. But it can also appear on any other part of the human body other than the face. It can appear on your neck, back (more common in males), as well as the arms. If acne is left untreated, it can turn into cysts which leaves evident, permanent body scarring. Treatment for scars left by acne can be very costly.
So it is important to treat the condition in its early stages. Let’s face it, most of us wake up in the morning, look into the mirror and we like the reflection we see, or do we really? Not if you are an acne sufferer. We do not see what we want to see and this can be very frustrating to start off your day. This can easily lead to depression and low self-esteem as well as psychological problems, especialy with teenagers. Peer pressure at school will also lead to stress and loneliless.
Most acne sufferes start off by using harmless cremes and medication without consulting a doctor or dermatologist at first. This may work for some but for the more severe acne, this just means temporary relief and after that they are back to where it all started. So when visiting your doctor with the problem, always make sure he knows everything about your medical condtion, eg. diet, allergies etc. Your doctor can prescribe really strong medication which will help get rid of your acne.
But beware of the side effects. Always ensure that this is correctly explained, before you start your treatment. There are many myths surrounding the appearancs of unsightly acne: Some say it is caused by being unhygienic, that only dirty people get acne. But it has never been proven. There is no link between the two.
Some also say that stress causes acne. But in reality it is the acne that causes the stress!
People have also claimed that going out into the sun regulary and for long periods, will clear up your acne. So untrue. The human body does need the useful source of Vitmain D from the sun, but you have to avoid getting burnt by the sun as excessive exposure to the sun will just damage your skin and make the acne even worse. A dermatalogical study has shown that, patients with severe acne, lacks vitamin A and Vitamin E. Foods containing vitamins A and E, are fish, liver, carrots eggs, green and yellow vegetables, spinach and sprouts. Another good additive to your diet will be Zinc which contains anti-flammatory ingredients and is very effective in fighting acne. Zinc can be found in most meats like beef, lamb, pork, crabmeat, turkey, chicken and salmon and for vegetarians, zinc found in pumpkin seeds offer concentrated sources of zinc.
Other sources on non-meat foods to find a zinc concentrate are peanuts, beans, wholegrane cereals, brown rice and patatoes. Try to avoid sugary foods and drink, as too many soft drinks, chocolates and sweets, which once digested, produces glucose and in turn causes high insulin levels. These high insulin levels in turn causes increased levels of acne as well as many other possible illnesses for eg. diabetes.
Dairy products such as milk, yogurts and cheese are also to be avoided and you will see an improvement in your condition. Living with acne from day to day is no joke, especially if you have tried almost everything.
