UNITED STATES, Feb 09 — A California based organization that protects the right of renters during the phase of foreclosure has received a number of complaints against Fannie Mae – a financial institution accused of violating the tenants’ right. Their claim to be different from the others has been contradicted by the growing complaints against it.
The real estate agents that are being employed by Fannie Mae misleads the owners of the foreclosed properties and make them sign in the policies like ’incentive payment to vacate the property (cash-for-keys)’ or signing a new ’month-to-month lease.
To know the policies of Fannie Mae clearly, Tenants Together has send them a letter requesting them mention it clearly the processes regarding monitoring, selection and the steps taken against the real estate agents that are working with them in the time of foreclosure in dealing with the residential properties and preparing a friendly process that will make the process of lodging a complaints easier for the tenants

The real estate agents that are being employed by Fannie Mae misleads the owners of the foreclosed properties and make them sign in the policies like ’incentive payment to vacate the property (cash-for-keys)’ or signing a new ’month-to-month lease.’ These policies are introduced in 2009, so very few people only know about them. The banks also have the misconception that people are voluntarily willing to leave their homes that is utterly absurd.
According to the reports puts forward by the Tenant Foreclosure Hotline, most of the tenants are foxed to sign in the agreement. In actuality, the any real estate agents are taking the advantages and making out money from this phase of economic slowdown. They tactfully pressurize people to leave their homes. The main reason behind this is the real estate agents are only interested in the commission that they will get after selling a home in the time of foreclosure.
Gabe Treves who is a Program Coordinator at Tenants Together opines, “Fannie Mae hires the same realtors as the rest of the banks. These realtors see tenants as a roadblock to their commission, so they bully and mislead them into taking for the ’cash-for-keys’ offers and signing away their rights to stay in their homes."
There are many stories can be found in the places like Stanislaus, Riverside, Alameda, San Joaquin, Merced counties stating that even after paying the rents regularly tenants are founding that their homes have been foreclosed and acquired and after the foreclosure they get a notice to sign in the agreements. In a situation like this people can call Tenants Together and can understand in details on how to Protect Tenants at Foreclosure Act. Sometimes the tenants call Fannie Mae directly to know the rules clearly.
To know the policies of Fannie Mae clearly, Tenants Together has send them a letter requesting them mention it clearly the processes regarding monitoring, selection and the steps taken against the real estate agents that are working with them in the time of foreclosure in dealing with the residential properties and preparing a friendly process that will make the process of lodging a complaints easier for the tenants. If caught violating the laws be it local, federal or state and the policies of Fannie Mae, they should cease all the relationships with the concern real estate agents.
