INDIA, Oct 25 — Shakespearean sonnets have always maintained its grace in the literary world ever since its evolution. I beg his pardon if calling it merely a poem diminishes the aura of the splendor, ‘Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day…’ alias ‘To my love’, but that’s exactly what we are entitled to call it. Limitations have never played a role in his poems, but here in this piece the radiance of free flow that is projected by him defies all earthliness. The way Shakespeare has gone to retain his belief that even nature’s loveliest creation, the summer’s day is petite when compared to his ‘friend’, and the manner in which he vows to not let death and time bind his friend within its caverns of denouement evinces how adorable that person is and how intimately he is in love with him/her

Shakespearean sonnets have always maintained its grace in the literary world ever since its evolution. Perhaps waiting for the precise word to be invented that will describe this poem’s loveliness will turn futile.

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May …. Shakespeare dedicates his lines in a romantic manner to his ‘friend’ whom he wants to compare to a summer’s day which is symbolic of brightness but almost immediately decides against it as he thinks his ‘friend’ is far more graceful than the temperate weather.

He goes on to say that even the summer’s day’s beauty is every now and then obstructed by leases of discord whereas his friend is beyond such impediments and is evergreen. Also the summer, he says, is short-lived but his friend is immortal and is possessive of eternal intensity, charm, elegance and beauty and therefore it would be inappropriate to compare such a persona to the summers day since the latter fails to match up to his/her (different interpretations of the poem suggests dissimilar views since the poet hasn’t for even a single instance mentioned the gender of the person concerned) standards.

The way Shakespeare has gone to retain his belief that even nature’s loveliest creation, the summer’s day is petite when compared to his ‘friend’, and the manner in which he vows to not let death and time bind his friend within its caverns of denouement evinces how adorable that person is and how intimately he is in love with him/her. Shakespeare well knew his might as a bard and hence confidently proclaimed he would make his friend eternal in his lines by making him/her the topic of the poem which will be read even thousand years after his death just like immortals! …

So long as men can breathe and eyes can see So long lives this, and this gives life to thee…   This was just to illustrate how beautiful and unmatched William Shakespeare was and is as a writer.   Men may come and men may go… Shakespeare was long ago and now is so… Never will such a man be born… Oh! Thousand seeds even you sow…
