raveling is always a welcome companion to temporarily escaping a busy lifestyle. Some would even travel just to get away from too much emotional drama in life. Rewarding yourself by going on a vacation gives you an array of opportunities and deeper understanding not just of your life but how other people in the world live theirs.
However, some travelers do not consider being cautious with their actions, especially in keeping their trashes. They may be committed with their travel in a manner that they are more than willing to explore even the hidden secrets of their destination but they do not commit in maintaining the beauty of these places for they leave marks and scraps that ruin nature’s limpidness.
In my years of going around the world, I’ve encountered and observed unusual habits by other travelers. Being far from their home sweet home, most travelers treat the land they visit as like a big trash can where they can throw garbage anywhere.
It might be advisable in the wilderness to leave traces in case we get lost, but throwing garbage in the good soil of the earth only adds to the increasing problems of the environment. It’s undeniable how global warming can destroy the planet where we live in. It’s already a fact that the Earth is slowly losing its beauty and we are the sole reason for this decline.
Recently, I have had curious encounters with people, most of which frequent travelers, who are dismayed about the bad news of travel destinations no longer being able to captivate its intended audience, due to reasons of environmental destructions. The torrential rains and flooding in Brazil and China, the departure of the once beautiful and balanced ecosystem of some islands in Asia and North of America- all spoiled mainly due to our grave carelessness and inability to look beyond the outcome of our deeds.
Reading this might be too much to understand, but my intention was to awaken your senses of the reality facing our lives today, and for all travelers to use their heads before doing any actions. Like most life advisors would tell you, we need to grow up and teach ourselves the consequences of our every action. Despite the laws and rules governing the protection of the nature, it all boils down to us, the individual tourist.
Travel consciously: Have no doubts of your destination or the experiences you wish to see, or the authenticity of the people you meet or the thrill of your adventures. But while you are lost in amazement of the world you just entered, keep in mind that while you are in an environment of new learning and discoveries, you are still within the limits of your own planet, and inside the home of others who are so much like you.
