D iners and Patrons Obtain Green Wristbands To Help Raise Proceeds   MIAMI (January 19, 2010) – Restaurant newcomer, The Ivy At The Grove, is doing its part in supporting local organizations and giving back to the Miami-Dade community.  The restaurant has taken a unique and proactive approach in its partnership with AMIKids, a not-for-profit alternative based program for adjudicated youth that finds solutions for juvenile crime issues through a low-risk, non-punitive marine-guided environment.  From now until March 31, 2010, participating diners and patrons of The Ivy will receive an “ivy” green wristband, with which all proceeds raised will benefit AMIKids Miami-Dade.

Upon presentation, the bracelet entitles guests and their party to 50% off of food at The Ivy At The Grove until the end of March.  Additionally, $1.00 per guest will be added to the total check, with all proceeds donated directly to AMIKids Miami-Dade.

"I have never met a ‘bad’ kid, only ones that have made ‘bad’ choices.  This is what we know and what we want the community to see," says Executive Director of AMIKids Miami-Dade, Joseph King.   “We chose to partner with AMIKids because of the impactful programs and valuable teachings that are instilled in these children.  I am proud to partner with an organization that teaches kids to make better decisions, develop goals, discover their talents, and become responsible, productive citizens,” says restaurant owner, Tim Powers.  “Reaching out and giving back to the community should be every company’s social responsibility,” adds Powers.

About AMIKids AMIkids is a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing a promising future to troubled youth who have been adjudicated or have failed in conventional school settings. Since 1969, AMIkids has partnered with local communities to help more than 95,000 misguided youth develop into responsible and productive citizens. AMIkids operates 56 schools in eight states focusing on family values, education, character building and experiential learning.  The program boasts an 87% success rate in Miami-Dade.
