Although power extracted from solar and wind generation is quite small as compared to the total power generated, you will surely notice a substantial increase in the amount of power generated year after year. A simple observation would be to look at the number of solar panels and wind turbines popping up in an increasing number, be it on a neighbor’s roof or near your favorite beach or mountain. While manufacturers of solar panels and wind turbines try to increase production levels to lower costs and reach out to a larger number of customers, they will surely require more people to execute their green dreams.
Your aim should thus be to board the green bus going towards a growing industry that will help you to gain a solid foothold as the years pass by. Even if you are not very highly qualified, you will still be able to get a green job since the solar and wind power generation industry would still require staff in production, installation, accounting, sales and marketing, after-sales, servicing, repairing, etc. In addition to manufacturing jobs, there would also be other green jobs such as those in logistics and at distributor and dealer levels that would need to be filled with competent people. With new companies trying to jump in now and establish themselves quickly, you will definitely not find it difficult to get a job that allows you to grow with the company in the coming years.
As opposed to other green energy jobs that could lead to environmental pollution, a green job will allow you to pat your back as you would be contributing to saving the environment so as to leave a better place for future generations. Job satisfaction is an important requirement for any job, and if you are satisfied in your field and have a chance to grow financially and mentally in the future then this could certainly be your ideal job. However, before you jump towards a green collar job, you will need to develop the requisite skills that will open the doors of a brighter future. If you are looking forward to getting a green job on the technical side of solar or wind power generation then you could go in for the longer degree courses that last for around 6 months. There are other courses that last for 2 years and online courses that can be completed within weeks. The problem is that demand for specific technicians, especially in the wind farm industry is quite high and companies are falling over each other to bag efficient technicians. A green degree along with sufficient knowledge and experience as a licensed installer or as a general contractor can land you a plum job in this sunrise industry.
