Usually, solar panels will use one of three main types of solar cells. Each of them comes with their own disadvantages and advantages.

1. Monocrystalline cells will give you solar panels which are very efficient, while occupying a smaller space, but they don’t have protection against shade.
2. Polycrystalline cells will provide you with solar panels that are highly efficient, with even a smaller amount of space occupied, but still lacking shade protection.
3. If you get a solar panel that uses amorphous silicon cells, you will get a smaller efficiency in the conversion, with more space occupied, but at least you get the shade protection.
