However, some of our most memorable and magical vacations will be those spent in a new and exciting location full of wonder and exploration.
Vietnam is quickly becoming one of the most popular vacation destinations with sophisticated travelers across the globe. Although there are many who may still have an obtuse view of the country due to its history of war and poverty, no longer is the country worthy of this cynical and uneducated opinion. Over recent years, Vietnam has risen from the ashes and recovered spectacularly from it’s woes with a now booming economy. As Vietnam continues to thrive, it now boasts tourism as one of its largest industries. A destination full of activity and vibrancy, there is plenty to discover in Vietnam. From beautiful beaches, bustling cities and breath-taking, snow capped mountains; with the correct planning you are guaranteed to be in awe of this exquisite country. With historic natural sculptures rising up in Halong Bay, breathtaking rice fields in Sapa and up to 7 World Natural and Cultural Heritage sites; whatever your personal interests may be, you are sure to find a Vietnamese excursion that will amaze and enthrall you.
Unlike other destinations that are more favorable within the hotter months, there is no set time in which you should arrange your vacation to Vietnam. Boasting a tropical climate throughout most of the year, travelers will experience a mix of humidity and scorching summer weather with milder, calmer weather. However, the weather can vary from north to south, so prior research is recommended in order to ensure you experience a weather that will allow you to enjoy Vietnam to its fullest. With the summer and winter months being polar opposites, it can become confusing as to what is the ideal time in which to travel the whole country. Although there is some chance of rainfall and some chilly winds, September to December is the ideal time in which to visit the area as a whole which will also help you to miss the extremities of the summer and winter weather.
Avid explorers will find plenty to discover whilst vacationing in Vietnam but in order to see as much as possible during your vacation; it is recommended that you combine a number of methods of transport. Vietnam boasts a great bus system which is set at a low price and is one of the easiest ways in which to travel. As one would expect, there are also a number of taxi services but these can be incredibly expensive. Alternatively, you can opt for the unique Vietnamese cyclo which is ideal for sophisticated travelers looking to soak up as much of the Vietnamese culture as they possibly can. Of course, it is also exciting to rely on walking in order to find hidden gems one cannot find sitting on the bus!
Vietnamese locals are renowned for being incredibly friendly and helpful meaning you are guaranteed to find a local who is more than happy to divulge information on some of the best locations to visit when in the country or if you are looking for a great restaurant to eat at. Vietnamese food is a perfect combination of traditional Vietnamese style with Chinese and French influences. All restaurants within the area boast flavorsome, decadent yet incredibly nutritious meals.
When packing for your trip, some tour guides may suggest bringing only the bare necessities as many items that you will need can be purchased when in Vietnam at a much lower price than back home. However, there are some items which you may prefer to bring with your for added comfort. In regards to clothing, this will be determined by the months in which you are visiting the area, but generally speaking, the Vietnamese dress code is quite casual unless you are dining at one of the top level restaurants that are housed throughout the country. For this reason, it is beneficial to come prepared, but more often than not you can get away with comfy shorts and t-shirts. If you are looking to explore as much as possible, it is essential that you come prepared with good quality walking shoes and sun protection if visiting during the hotter months of the year.
