They have come to be seen as a variety of braces of themselves (rather than just a brand); so that just as we talk of metallic braces and invisible braces, we end up with Damon braces mentioned as a special category of themselves.
For the benefit of those who may be encountering these matters for the first time, we may venture to mention something regarding where this whole braces business is coming from. And as it turns out, braces are devices that are meant for evening out teeth misalignment issues. As we may recall, people with well aligned teeth tend to look very good. It doesn’t matter how the teeth look in other aspects, but as long as you have them perfectly aligned, you already have some brownie points chalked up to you.
On the other hand, misaligned teeth tend to be anything, from somewhat unappealing (where the misalignment is modest), to completely off-putting, where the misalignment is major. Now in order to help people bring their misaligned teeth back into proper alignment, a number of devices have been created, chief among them being the braces we are now looking at. The braces are effectively mechanical devices, which through very slight ’tug’ forces bring the misaligned teeth back into proper alignment, thus enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the person who was afflicted of the misalignment.
So turning back to the question as to what makes more and more people opt for Damon braces, one of the factors that would come up is that this variety of braces does not come with ligature (they are termed as self ligating), and the brackets on them are smaller. The end result is that Damon braces end up being even more discreet than the so-called Invisible braces, in a situation where discretion is a greatly valued feature. They are the sorts of braces you wear, and hardly anybody learns of the fact, unless you choose to make it known. Of course, there are the silver bits that are characteristic of Damon braces, and while these are somewhat conspicuous, they don’t come out badly - but rather, they make you look like you are wearing some fancy dental jewelry. Someone not in the know would never quite know it is braces you are wearing.
The second attraction in Damon braces lies in the fact that they are quite easy to wear. One of the more off-putting things about dental braces in general tends to be in the fact that they are not very easy to wear. This (ease of wearing, in the part of Damon braces), largely has to do with their structure; being as they are amongst the smallest brace varieties.
The third, and most practical attraction in Damon braces lies in the fact that they are highly effective, delivering remarkable results (in terms of teeth alignment) within a relatively short period of usage.
