UNITED STATES, Jan 23 — Stamped concrete is not new but it has been so highly refined that you may have walked over it and thought it was stone from a quarry, flagstone, or Spanish tile. When you think of a concrete patio or driveway the images you see are drab gray concrete that is efficient, sturdy, strong, inexpensive and easy to work with and also easy to clean. However plain old concrete is rarely pretty or shows any imagination. Just remember those footprints in your patio that have been there for fifty years or more

S tamped concrete is not new but it has been so highly refined that you may have walked over it and thought it was stone from a quarry, flagstone, or Spanish tile. When you think of a concrete patio or driveway the images you see are drab gray concrete that is efficient, sturdy, strong, inexpensive and easy to work with and also easy to clean. However plain old concrete is rarely pretty or shows any imagination.

When pigments and lacquers are added to concrete it becomes like slate, ceramic tile, cobblestone, marble and anything else the installer can think of. The colors and patterns can be mixed to create unique patterns that have been stamped into freshly poured concrete.

There is also a method of stenciling the concrete and it is less expensive, but is also less reliable.

There are other methods, by using acid stains in order to make a simple staining process. The acid creates a mottled look like natural marble. The colors created using the natural deposits in the concrete are earth tones like brown, red, and green that you might see in classic architecture.

Stamped concrete is an art in itself and many companies offer this type of product that will enhance every property. They go so far as to offer it in kitchens and bathrooms for the counter top or flooring or both. The concrete counter tops are as beautiful as ceramic tile or granite, and when sealed can last for the life of your home.

They will also install the stamped concrete around fireplaces. The colors and patterns are endless and can even be used as beautiful ceramic tile on walls and entryways. Like regular concrete the stamped variety gives the interior of your home a unique lasting product that will never wear out.

Search for a contractor who has the ability to stamp concrete. They should have many displays that will give you the option of many styles, patterns and colors. You will be amazed with the end product of stamped concrete and you will see your home changed into a classic one of a kind masterpiece.
Because stamped concrete will last for years and years, it may be best not to try to do the job yourself. Just remember those footprints in your patio that have been there for fifty years or more. Remember how they aren’t even attractive, and you don’t want that and instead you’ll want the stamped concrete.
